The Audience, 2026-
Making an artwork requires becoming an artist. Both actions are required. Many believe that one follows the other; eg, if you make art, you are an artist. However, they are in fact two discrete, almost disparate actions. Occasionally running does not make one a runner, nor swimming a swimmer. You can paint like an abstract expressionist, but you cannot make a Pollock, a Rothko, a Warhol. What is the difference? This series explores the processes of building and projecting this image of the self as the artwork, and posits it as the 'real' artwork. The Audience posits that the 'art product' produced is only incidental. The Audience asks, 'How might one become an artwork?'
